Adel Bozorgzadeh, MD

Adel Bozorgzadeh, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon with specialized training in transplant and hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery. With decades of experience in clinical practice and surgical leadership, Dr. Bozorgzadeh is recognized for his expertise and contributions to advancing transplant medicine.

Dr. Bozorgzadeh earned his Doctor of Medicine from George Washington University, followed by a general surgery internship at The Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. He then completed his residency at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens and a fellowship in Transplant Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, one of the nation’s leading transplant programs.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Bozorgzadeh has held key academic and clinical leadership roles, including Director and Chief of Solid Organ Transplant Programs at the University of Rochester Medical Center and UMass Memorial Medical Center. In these capacities, he played a pivotal role in developing transplant protocols, improving organ donation processes, and advancing the standards of transplant care.

Dr. Bozorgzadeh has also been an influential voice in policy and ethics through his involvement with the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network/United Network for Organ Sharing (OPTN/UNOS) and other national committees.

In addition to his leadership and research, Dr. Bozorgzadeh prioritizes patient-centered, multidisciplinary care. By bringing comprehensive transplant and hepatobiliary surgical services to the community, he enables patients to access world-class care close to home, reducing the need for long-distance travel for specialized treatment.
