Julie Weisz
Julie Weisz brings extensive experience in laboratory analysis, quality assurance, auditing, and technical writing, with a diverse background spanning biomedical research, environmental chemistry, and microbiology.
A Gillette native, Julie attended the University of Wyoming, where she earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Zoology & Physiology and Molecular Biology. She began her career at the University of Utah School of Medicine, where she contributed to biomedical research in immunology, genetics, and infectious disease with research published in journals such as Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology and The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal.
After returning to Gillette, Julie spent over a decade as the Quality Assurance Manager at a leading environmental laboratory, overseeing regulatory audits, data validation, and standardization of quality management systems across multiple locations. She played a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with EPA regulations, led training initiatives for analysts and supervisors, and was instrumental in the development of corporate-wide document control systems.
In her current role, Julie is responsible for coordinating laboratory operations and supporting research initiatives. “After spending 15 years in the environmental industry, I wanted to get back to working in biomedical research, which is something I never thought would be possible in Gillette, WY until Hoskinson Health and Wellness Clinic.”
Julie is currently expanding her expertise in forensic investigative genetic genealogy, having recently earned a graduate certificate from the University of New Haven, combining her molecular biology background with her skills in genealogy and research. When she’s not in the lab, she enjoys hiking and taking road trips. “About 10 years ago, my mom and I took a road trip around Wyoming to visit every town on the map, which was a wonderful experience. It gave us a goal to achieve together and was a way to appreciate the beauty and history of this state.”
Julie is an avid reader, particularly enjoying historical fiction with meticulous research and attention to historical accuracy. She is also deeply engaged in her community, contributing to initiatives such as the Friends of the Library at the Campbell County Public Library.
