Ryan D. Black, DO, FAOCOO, is a board certified otolaryngologist and facial plastic surgeon with two decades of experience in diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the ears, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck.

Dr. Black earned his medical degree from A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri, in 2004. During medical school, he distinguished himself as an anatomy instructor, gaining extensive hands-on experience that laid the foundation for his future as a surgeon. He then completed a residency in Otolaryngology/Facial Plastic Surgery at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa, where he trained under top specialists and expanded his expertise at institutions such as the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, the Hough Ear Institute in Oklahoma City, and the Haymaker Head & Neck Oncology Team in Indianapolis. His pediatric specialty training took place at Women & Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York.

Over the years, Dr. Black has continually refined his surgical techniques, gaining specialized training in endoscopic sinus surgery, thyroid and parathyroid procedures, allergy treatment, cosmetic injections, and laser therapy. He is particularly experienced in performing Inspire Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulator implantation for patients with obstructive sleep apnea who cannot tolerate CPAP therapy.

With a strong dedication to education and service, Dr. Black has actively contributed to medical education both in the U.S. and abroad. In Washington state, Dr Black served as a lecturing physician for over ten years at Pacific Northwest University. In 2022, he took a sabbatical to teach Medical English to physicians at the National University of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. He has also been involved in missionary services in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.

Dr. Black values a patient-centered approach, emphasizing active listening, collaborative decision-making, and patient education. His expertise and patient-focused care have earned him recognition, including the Patient Experience Award at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

After raising his five children in Yakima, Washington, Dr. Black and his wife relocated to Gillette, Wyoming, where he serves the community as a member of the Wyoming State Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. He plans to continue his practice and retire in Wyoming. Outside the clinic, Dr. Black enjoys snow skiing, 3D printing, and flying remote-controlled airplanes.
