
Timothy Hursh, MD, MPH, CWS
For more than 35 years, Dr. Timothy Hursh, MD, MPH, CWS, has dedicated his career to helping patients heal when conventional treatments fall short. A board-certified specialist in wound care, hyperbaric medicine, and aerospace medicine, Dr. Hursh has cared for patients in both military and civilian settings always with the goal of restoring health, mobility, and quality of life. His expertise spans from treating complex, non-healing wounds to leading research on oxygen-based therapies that accelerate recovery.
Dr. Hursh earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine before serving as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force. There, he provided critical care to pilots, aircrew, and military personnel recovering from injuries related to aviation, deep-sea diving, and high-altitude exposure.
A deep-rooted passion for hyperbaric oxygen therapy led him to complete a fellowship in Clinical Hyperbaric Medicine, where he specialized in oxygen-based therapies for non-healing wounds, radiation injuries, and vascular conditions. After retiring from the Air Force in 2009, Dr. Hursh transitioned to civilian medicine, leading hyperbaric and wound care programs in Texas and Oklahoma.
Over the years, Dr. Hursh’s work has focused extensively on patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, arterial insufficiency, and radiation-induced injuries, applying life-changing therapies to reduce complications and enhance treatments. He has played a pivotal role in physician education and research for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and his expertise has led to roles such as Chief of Hyperbaric Medicine & Wound Care for the USAF, Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General, and Medical Director for multiple wound care and hyperbaric centers.
With contributions to medicine that have been recognized with numerous military honors, including the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star, Dr. Hursh believes in meeting patients where they are, listening, educating, and ensuring they feel confident in their care.
Dr. Hursh remains passionate about expanding the applications of Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) beyond traditional wound care. He continues to approach each case with the same philosophy: Every question matters, and trust is built through open communication.
