Hoskinson Health Broadens Rheumatology Care with Dual-Trained Specialist Dr. Hammad Ali
August 20, 2025 [Gillette, WY] – Dr. Hammad Ali joins Hoskinson Health and Wellness Clinic from the University of Pennsylvania, where he recently completed a fellowship in Rheumatology-Dermatology - one of only a handful of programs of its kind in the States.
As a board-certified internal medicine specialist and rheumatologist with training in autoimmune skin diseases, Dr. Ali has under his belt, over 15 years of clinical experience and academic training, providing management for conditions that include:
- Cutaneous lupus erythematosus and systemic lupus
- Vasculitis, including ANCA-associated and skin-predominant disease
- Dermatomyositis and myositis overlap syndromes
- Rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis
- Autoimmune blistering disease
- Pregnancy and autoimmune disease
- Musculoskeletal ultrasound
- IVIG therapy in inflammatory conditions
His expertise fills a critical gap for patients navigating overlapping symptoms and conditions that often fall between specialties, with specialized training that equips him to diagnose and manage autoimmune and inflammatory conditions that affect both the joints and the skin.
“I am passionate about treating autoimmune rheumatological diseases in general, as well as the rheumatology-dermatology overlap. There are not very many Rheumatologists with formal training in this area neither in the U.S nor that world at large. This is a relatively new area in rheumatology and I endeavor to keep myself up to date to benefit my patients so they can get world class care.”
Training and Research
After completing a competitive Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Kentucky, where he was appointed Chief Fellow, Dr. Ali pursued a research fellowship and his medical degree. He then went on to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University.
He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Rheumatology and Internal Medicine, and an active member of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and GRAPPA (Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis).
Dr. Ali has presented at national and international conferences including the American College of Rheumatology, EULAR (European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology), and the Pakistan Society for Rheumatology.
His research contributions have spanned studies in epidemiology, dermatology, rheumatology, and immunology.
He is also published in more than 30 abstracts and peer-reviewed papers and serves as a reviewer for multiple scientific journals.
In 2023, he was appointed a Review Editor for Frontiers in Lupus.
Philosophy of Care
In his practice, Dr. Ali takes a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to care. His beliefs are rooted in understanding not only the disease, but also the individual living with it.
“My approach involves thorough clinical assessment, shared decision-making, and evidence-based informed personalized care plans. I integrate patient values and preferences into every stage of care. For me, my patients come first. No matter how long it takes, or how many doors I need to knock, I will do what I can for their best care.”
When he’s not in the clinic, Dr. Ali is an avid outdoorsman. Raised between England and Pakistan, he developed an early love for the mountains through family trips. Today, he continues to explore high-altitude hiking across the Karakoram, Himalayas, and the Swiss Alps. He is also a huge fan of football (soccer), volleyball, cricket, table tennis and enjoys solving puzzles.
“Being a fan of Sherlock Holmes (incidentally written by a physician), following clues and solving puzzles is something I enjoy, so I thought to myself clinics would never be monotonous. I find great purpose in deciphering complex autoimmune presentations and improving outcomes through multidisciplinary care and research. Also, with more and more research in genetics and autoimmune pathology I feel the next decade is going to belong to these challenging conditions and I want to be amongst the physicians to lead this area.”
With his advanced training in both rheumatology and dermatology, patients in Gillette now have easier access to targeted evaluation and treatment for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.
