The launch of HHWC's Otolaryngology (ENT) services is led by two distinguished medical professionals: Dr. Ryan Black, DO, FAOCOO, and Micayla Hinds, MSN, CPNP.
Meet Dr. Ryan Black
Bringing 20 years of experience in otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery, Dr. Black specializes in diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of ENT conditions. His expertise includes:
- Hearing loss restoration & vertigo management
- Chronic sinus infections & nasal congestion treatment
- Tonsillitis, thyroid, and parathyroid surgeries
- Allergy treatment and sleep disorder management
- Inspire Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulator placement
Dr. Black began his medical career at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri. He graduated in 2004 and pursued an ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery residency at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His specialized training includes experiences at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, Hough Ear Institute in Oklahoma City, Haymaker Head and Neck Oncology Team in Indianapolis, and specialized pediatric training from Women & Children's Hospital in Buffalo, New York. After completing his residency in 2009, he honed his surgical and diagnostic skills in Yakima, Washington before relocating and settling in Gillette, Wyoming with his family.
A strong advocate for patient-centered care, Dr. Black’s philosophy is deeply rooted in osteopathic principles. “One of my mentors taught me, ‘If you listen to your patients long enough, they will tell you what is wrong.’ I value the insight my patients have, as they listen to what their bodies are telling them.”
Dr. Black is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Otolaryngology/Ophthalmology, Head and Neck Surgery and has played a pivotal role in medical education. He has lectured at Pacific Northwest University for over a decade and has taught Medical English to doctors at the National University of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. In recognition of his expertise, he was appointed by the governor of Wyoming to the Wyoming State Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
